Default Metformin in PCOS Patients

I am seeing more patients with polycystic ovary syndrome coming in on metformin. Their blood glucose levels and A1Cs are normal. They have a variety of reasons they are being told to take it: increases fertility and decreases anovulation, decreases insulin resistance and testosterone levels, improves liproprotein profile, and may prevent the development of type 2 diabetes. Are you seeing a more widespread use of metformin in your patients with PCOS?

I think you may be missing the mark a bit. The level you need to follow is the "insulin" level itself, not the Glu or A1C. It does make a drastic difference to use Metformin as I have experienced it firsthand with a family member, particularly with weight management and lowering testosterone effects.
